The first time we visited Brejunha was a couple of years ago. I spotted on Google Maps that it was close to the house that we rented that year. ‘I Think It should be a nice walk (3 km) through the forest’. Well, that went very differently than expected. We walked through a swamp. Got completely disoriented by the thick vegetation, and we mistook animal paths for hiking trails. With bleeding ankles and with stings all over our bodies, we arrived after three hours of struggle, starving. I’m not going to say it was worth the struggle, but the food was delicious!

What can you expect at Brejuinha?

It is a bar/restaurant, close to the beach, in the middle of the forest. It has a big garden with playgrounds for kids and some really sweet animals. The food and drinks are good value for money and the staff is friendly and welcoming. They also allow overnight parking for motor homes if you eat there.

Bring your own food for the BBQ

Another nice feature is the BBQ facilities. There are large picnic tables with private BBQs everywhere between the trees. You rent a BBQ for a few euros, and then you can bring all your food and drinks yourself. On a sunny Sunday, it is packed with Portuguese families.

A new music festival is born in Vila Nova de Anha

Brejunha-viana

I personally know Brejunha without parties, because of these covid years. But this year is different. On the 11th of June, the “THE BEGINNING” takes place, an event that marks the debut of the new Viennese promoter RE-CORDIS. The party starts at 6 pm and runs until 6 am. Tickets are still available here.

Another new event is the monthly ‘Terreiro Gathering’

Brejunha-events

What can you expect? A recurring event with music, ecstatic dance, cocoa ceremonies, workshops, and a craft fair. And the night will end with a beautiful acoustic concert by a Brazilian musician.

Tickets are available on the day and at the entrance.
