In the rolling green hills of Viana do Castelo, an architectural gem is taking shape: Yuna, our dream, grows brick by brick under the Portuguese sun. Two years ago, in the spring of 2021, our adventure began with the search for the perfect plot of land that Dirk and I (Angelique) could remember forever. A plot with panoramic sea views, embraced by nature—a rare find that we ultimately secured.
Together with the creative architects from Mima Housing, we brought our dream visions to life in two elegant designs. The houses extend the environment, with large glass doors that invite the landscape in, soft earthy colors that beautifully complement the surroundings, and a pergola that plays a dynamic game of shadows with the rhythm of the sun. The pool, as the centerpiece, mirrors the sky and enriches the house with a dance of light and water.
The construction, which started in March, is making steady progress. The outlines of Yuna are emerging from the ground, and the rooftop terrace already offers a stage for a spectacle that begins every morning with a symphony of light and ends with a sunset.
As we stand on the construction site, where the future terrace will be, we are already captivated by the expansive views stretching from the local villages to the kitesurfers at Cabedelo, and it’s clear that the reality is shaping up to be even more magnificent than what we dreamed.
Although the Portuguese weather may challenge our schedule, June is penciled into our calendars as the month when Yuna is expected to be ready.
