When we designed Yuna, we always imagined two families arriving on the same Sunday afternoon, unpacking in their own spaces, and ending up around the same table that evening. That’s exactly what’s been happening.
Yuna One and Yuna Two sit on the same hillside, a few steps apart. They share a garden. But each has its own front door, its own kitchen, its own rhythm. When guests book both, something interesting happens: the group gets to be together without getting in each other’s way. It sounds simple. In practice, it’s harder to find than you’d think.
The problem with most group rentals
Most holiday homes for larger groups fall into one of two categories. Either it’s one big house where everyone is always technically together — the same kitchen, the same living room, the same noise at 7am. Or it’s two completely separate properties that are convenient on a map but feel disconnected once you’re there. What we wanted to build was something in between. Close enough that you can share a meal or a morning swim without planning it. Far enough that everyone has their own space to retreat to.
‘We spent a week here with four adults and always felt completely comfortable. Although Yuna Two is part of the same building, you don’t notice the other guests at all.’ Volker
Who it works for
We’ve seen a few patterns emerge over the past year. Two families who want their kids to play together but need separate bedtimes. A group of friends where not everyone goes to bed at the same time. Parents visiting grown-up children who appreciate privacy on both sides. And surf or kite groups who want an outdoor shower, a pool to come back to, and enough space to spread out after a long day at the beach.
The garden does a lot of work. It connects both houses in a way that feels natural — there’s no awkward corridor or shared hallway. You step outside and you’re in the same space. You step back in and you’re home.
