One of the things we love about Yuna’s location: you land at Porto Airport, and less than an hour later you’re standing on the terrace looking at the Atlantic. No long transfers, no second flight, no stress. Here’s how it works, including what we’d honestly recommend.
The short answer: rent a car at the airport and drive north on the A28. It takes about 45 minutes to Viana do Castelo, and around 40 minutes to Yuna in Vila Nova de Anha. There’s also a direct bus (about an hour) and a train connection via Porto. But for the kind of stay Yuna is made for, a car makes all the difference.

By rental car (our recommendation)
All the major rental companies are at the airport, right in the arrivals building. From there it’s motorway almost door to door: follow the A28 towards Viana do Castelo, and you’re at Yuna before your holiday playlist runs out.
Why we recommend it: Yuna sits on a quiet hillside between the beaches and the hills. The best of this region, Cabedelo, the mountain trails, waterfalls, restaurants in the villages, is spread out. With a car, all of it is fifteen minutes away. Without one, you’ll spend your holiday planning around timetables.
One thing to know about the A28: parts of it use electronic-only tolls, with no toll booths to pay at. Ask your rental company to activate an electronic toll device (most cars have one built in) — it takes one question at the desk and saves you a headache later. Toll costs for the trip are just a few euros.
By bus
There are direct buses from Porto Airport to Viana do Castelo’s bus terminal, run by companies like Get Bus and Rede Expressos. The ride takes around 50 minutes to an hour and tickets start at roughly €7–15. Booking ahead online is cheapest. Keep in mind: the bus drops you in Viana city centre, and Yuna is about ten minutes further by taxi. Doable, but factor it in.
By train
There’s no direct train from the airport. Take the metro (line E) to Porto Campanhã first, about 35 minutes, then a train north to Viana do Castelo, which takes a bit over an hour along a route that hugs the coast in places. It’s the slowest option, but a lovely one if you’re not in a hurry. From Viana station, it’s a short taxi ride to Yuna.
By taxi or private transfer
If you’d rather not think at all after your flight, a private transfer from the airport to Yuna’s door costs roughly €80–100 and takes about 40 minutes. Worth it for late arrivals, or if you’re planning a stay where you genuinely don’t want to leave the house. (We understand.)
Our honest advice
Rent the car. Not because the alternatives don’t work, but because this region rewards wandering, a morning surf at Cabedelo, lunch in a village, a waterfall hike in the afternoon. That freedom is half of what a stay at Yuna is about.
And if you have any doubts about the route, timings or where to park: just send us a message before you travel. We’ve driven it more times than we can count.
